Greek Wedding at St. Nectarios in Covina, CA

December 2, 2012

Over 6 years ago I photographed George and Julie’s big Greek wedding in Palm Springs, CA. Since then, George has flourished as an amazing wedding photographer, starting his own photography company: George Sillas Photography. And I have had the opportunity to have him be a second shooter at several of my Southern California weddings. The quality of his work is uncanny, and I had the amazing pleasure of turning the tables around and getting to assist for George at a totally off the hook Greek Wedding last weekend! Peter and Jenny wed at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church in Covina before being Chauffeured in a Roles Royce Phantom to the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point, where they spared no expense to have the most amazing Greek Wedding Reception you could imagine! Man was it good to shoot a Greek wedding again, they are always larger than life.

Here’s just a handful of my favorite images from the night. First, let it be stated that Peter’s hairdresser was flown in from Puerto Rico and besides doing an amazing job, he also made sure Peter was looking his best the entire day.

Let’s not forget the surprise Grand Entrance through smoke and confetti canons that the Bride and Groom made into their reception and visually stunning first dance.

And then of course the Greek dancing and their version of a “money dance” which creates a dance floor out of thousands of dollar bills. The only thing that was missing was heaps of broken plates… but I’m guessing that the Ritz management had something to do with that, because I’m pretty sure the guests thought it was a great idea!
